Heat Exchanger Gaskets:
The process of formulating the right gasket compound and profile for a specific duty or application is considered an art or a science itself to be more accurate. For instance, the process to compound the right rubber mixture can involve the selection even five to fifteen different substances from around 1700 of different grades of polymer, vulcanizing chemicals and processing materials currently available. This selection process can be influenced by a host of other parameters that could affect the eventual performance of the gasket. The final choice of materials can be determined by the actual nature of the duty and the interaction between the gasket material and the plates all individually and collectively, working environment, the service temperature and pressure.
